ABOUT
CALL FOR JUSTICE
MISSION & HISTORY.
In 2012, the first wolf was seen in Denmark after 200 years of absence from Danish nature. In the 10 years that have passed, up to 50 wolves have either re-immigrated or been registered as born in our country. By the end of 2022 over 50% of the Danish wolf population is cryptically missing, and the average age of Danish wolves was 0,8 years compared to the normal lifetime average of 12-13 years.
Of the cryptically missing wolves are as many as 3 wolf families claiming territory in the same area, incl. unregistered newborn puppies, from the years 2018 - 21. This area covers a newly established Nature National Park “Stråsø Plantage”.
Despite the total protection of Danish wolves according to the EU Habitats Directive - and Bern Convention - with strict protection requirements during the breeding season, Denmark has shamefully placed itself at the top of the list of highest unnatural mortality rates for wolves in Europe and the World. As much as 10 times higher than average. A mortality that is largely attributed by scientists to wildlife crime e.g. poaching and illegal hunting.
The civilian population in Denmark has witnessed the authorities' and governments' lack of action on the related wildlife crime - despite numerous demands, warnings and concerned calls from ordinary citizens, researchers and NGOs.
It is about time to settle the accounts, to Right The Wrongs so to speak.
Denmark's only large predator, and native key species the wolf, as well as Danish nature, truly need us to take action NOW.
TOGETHER WE SEEK TO "RIGHT THE WRONGS" WITH THIS LETTER OF PROTEST AND CALL TO ACTION.
We demand legal action taken against Denmark for infringement of the Habitat Directive, and severe restrictions/regulations on hunting in areas where wolves (ands other protected species) continously are being killed.
Poachers need to be stopped!
